Once again with feeling

Hello, Everyone,
It's a cool Tuesday  night in San Diego. I'm feeling better. Listening to Eric Marienthal play jazz sax.  He's hot.  Dan and I went out for steaks.  Wait, we didn't break the bank.  We went to the Turf Supper Club on 25th, our fav cheapie steak haunt.  Grill your own steaks, good, stiff drinks and nice staff.  And close to Rise's house, where we chanted tonight until 8:30.  They serve late.  Pretty dark for pics.  We had pork chops. Yum.

Back to the Pomegranate

Hello, Everyone,
It's a cool Monday evening in San Diego, after a lovely sunny day.  I'm getting over that cold, just a bit of cough left. I'm listening to a Carulli guitar sonata on Pandora.

We went back to Pomegrasnste to show the place to Dare.  They were great as usual, although a bit dark to photograph.  Candlelight and all that.  Very romantic place.

Oh, well, you'll have to believe me that they were great. Stroganoff, house-smoked salmon and lamb shank,  all great   Spasiva Pomegranate.

Lilo is snuggeling and being generally helpful. Rubbing her chin on the corner of the mirror.  Good Lilo.

Love,
Julie

boundless hope.

Hello, Everyone,
Its a mild Friday evening in San Diego, February like this is why we live in San Diego. Listening to Jullian Bream play classical guitar on Pandora. My cold is slowly getting better.  I'm at the almost done stage, but for a horrendous, deep cough.

We ate at Bunz, a new place in Mission Valley. At the Day's Inn.

Super dooper dogs and burgers are their thing.  Dan had a big jucey burger he enjoyed very much.  I had a Ceaser salad with a chicken breast, the the chicken was moist, not overcooked.  They do homemade ketsup, out of this world. Local brewskis.

Nice servers, good food. The most popular dish is the TJ dog, wrapped in bacon.  They were out of dogs by the time we got there.  Barbara, are you listening?  You would love this place.  There is a french toasted cinnamon bun on the breakfast menu. I think we'll go back for that.
 Dan's everything fries.

Lilo sez Hi to her fans. She is helping me post.
G'nite all,
Julie

Belated Valentine

Heather's new Boat

Hello Everyone,
It's a coolish, breezy Thursday afternoon in San Diego, I'm listening to Goldfish Memory on Pandora.  I'm drinking orange tea and eating a tangerine, trying to get over the end of this cold.  Dan went to visit his folks, so the house is mine!
Heather bought a boat without a motor, the shipyard guy sold it to her for the price of the delivery.  She's going to renovate it and use it for the internal amenities as a guest house.   So, Here is their new cabin cruiser yacht, the "WIGWAM", staked out permanently in the back yard.

Heather is busy sewing new cushions and pads for the dining area.  Brad is going to remodel the tail area to make a little patio with seating and a table for an outdoor eating area.  There is  broken hatch cover that Brad is also going to fix.  She likes the fixin' part. So I guess we won't see much of the Jago's for a while.

Lilo is asleep on my bed, keeping warm and watching the Doctors.  She likes the hunky young one.

I'm knitting on the same grey, red, black and white socks I showed you before, almost done, 1/2 inch to go.

See YA,
Julie

Pomegranate, yes!

Happy Valentine's Day, Everyone,

I hope you are having fun today.  My Halloween spidey was so cute we left him up, so he is playing with the lilac Valentines heart lights.  I do get a lot of mileage out of holidays.

It's a cold windy Tuesday night in San Diego.  I'm listening to Incendio play Luna on Pandora.  My cold is getting better.  I feel better today, no fever.

Dan and I went to Pomegranate, a Russian restaurant in North Park. No Valentine's Day crush there.  The decor is rustic, country hunting lodge style, very comfy.  The staff is young Russian kids, probably college kids, very nice and helpful.  The food was so good.  Freshly baked, warm bread with hotel butter (herbs and garlic mixed in), wonderful chai with cherry concentrate instead of sugar to sweeten.

Great meaty, tasty soup, Georgian style.  Then  steamed dumplings (Like ravioli) in a yoghurt herb sauce, other dumplings made with pastry like empenadas with beef and mushrooms inside. Everything yummy.   Baked apple stuffed with dried fruit and walnuts for desert.  We had fun.  Not cheap, but not too expensive either.  I'd go again.  Next time I'm getting the Stroganoff.

I chanted Nam myoho renge kyo with Park West district at 7.  It was nice.

Lilo is staying in and being good.  It's cold outside.  She's sitting in the dark with her back to me, whatever that means.

Bye,
Julie

'Monster' socks

Hello, Everyone,
It's a cool, windy, rainy Monday night in San Diego.  I have a cold and I'm trying to keep it from getting worse.  I'm drinking tea and listening to Hector Villa-Lobos play classical guitar on Pandora.

I finished some socks made from the leftovers of the Christmas socks.
Lots of leftovers, Frankenstein monster sock as the Germans say.  Cute.
Balbriggan heel and toe, brick stitch colorwork. I already had someone in the family request them for next Christmas.

These are the new WIP. The red and black stripes are leftover-from-Christmas yarn, the nulti is new.

I went to lunch yesterday at Juan Chou in southpark.  Lunch was $50 for 2 and there was hardly any carne asada in my carne asada burrito.  I'll never go back.  The owner was there with lots of bad attitude.  He can keep it!

Lilo keeps poking her head outside and then coming back in.  She really wants to go out, but the weather is too wet for her.

Dan is coughing away in the bedroom.  I wish he'd take some Musinex.

See ya later, I'm going to put a little cinnamon schnapps in my tea.

Party time!

Hello, Everyone,
It's a warm Friday night in San Diego.  I hear it's winter? Just got back from a party in the OC.  Feeling good.
Listening to Jessie Cook play Mario takes a walk on Pandora. Go, Jesse.   Eating dark chocolate M&M's.  Life could not be better.

I asked Heather to write up the pattern for sale on Rav.  Let's see if she does. Busy gal, just bought a boat to boot.

Here are the party pics:
Blogger is not letting the rotate "stand".
Pretty Mamma, but she never stands still... not since she was born.

Lots of 8 year old action.

Who likes pop corn?

I just wish someone would stand still.
Cute lil' guy.
Kids, more kids.

Ready to go play.
Grampa loves his little girl.

Lilo is swishing her lovely white tail against my leg, wanting a mention in the blog.  Hello, from Lilo to all her fans.  She has been soooo good lately, I almost wonder what she is really up to.

See ya soon,

Julie

silk and salami

Hello, Everyone,

Then above is the pic of the white scarf I finished.  Gottta fill the Christmas gift drawer.

It's a warm Monday night in January (Only in San Diego) and I've been knitting and drinking red wine.  I feel good and I'm listening to Jessie Cook play the rising tide or some such.

I finished a hat that is sink and cotton, so light, for containing my hair with open car windows, not warmth. shiney beads for the magpie in me.

Dan and I wanted to go out, but instead I made some grilled cheese sandwiches with salami.  Real good.

Here is a pic of the new hat with the Wine Dan has been serving, Chiani style but from California.  I love it, fruity an light red.  Bif glass to boot.

Now Blogger is giving me fits, but it does that, and it's free, so I guess I'll try and work with it.

Good night from Lilo.

Love,
Julie

Coronado and Tacos El Paisa

Hello, Everyone,
It's a warm Thursday night in San Diego. Winter, what winter?

Dan and I went over to Coronado and had coffee at the ferry landing. Lovely view of the city from across the bay.  I took pics, but Blogger won't load them just now, error message instead.   I love living in beautiful San Diego!  We also have a new favorite taco shop, Tacos El Paisa on Imperial in the "hood". Super yummy and located near a friend's house where we often go for Buddhist meetings.  Open late to boot.  I think I'm in love.  Carne asada to die for and fresh, hot, handmade tortillas on the side. Wow!  Carnitas also great.

This is the side tray they bring to the table with your order.

If blogger lets me, I'll add the Coronado pics later.  I finished a new hat for myself. Lightweight, not for warmth, but to control my hair in the car with the windows open.  Lightweight yarn, lots of lace holes.  A bit of eyelash to make it fun.  Sock yarn leftovers at the brim where it rubs on my forehead so it's soft and comfy.

See ya,
Julie
